UBS has appointed Sonja Laud, Chief Investment Officer of Legal & General, to co-head its $1.8 trillion direct investments unit, underscoring the bank’s push to strengthen investment leadership amid its post-Credit Suisse integration.
UBS will merge its public and private market investment teams into a single platform, representing the core of its $2 trillion asset management business. Laud will join in July next year, partnering with current Head of Investments Barry Gill.
The move signals UBS’s focus on:
- Deeper integration across public and private markets
- Scaled, client-centric investment solutions
- Stronger governance and investment oversight during a major organisational transition
For the industry, it reflects a broader trend: large asset managers are consolidating investment capabilities and elevating top-tier CIO talent to navigate increasingly complex markets.
