Citigroup has hired Drago Rajkovic, a seasoned dealmaker with over 30 years of advisory experience, as co-head of global M&A, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters. Rajkovic joins from JPMorgan, where he most recently served as Global Chairman of M&A.
At Citi, Rajkovic will co-lead the M&A division alongside Kevin Cox, beginning this September, and will be based across New York and San Francisco.
Recent Deal Highlights:
💼 Salesforce’s $8B acquisition of Informatica
💼 HPE’s $14B purchase of Juniper Networks
Rajkovic’s appointment is part of a broader strategic push by Viswas Raghavan, Citi’s head of banking (and former JPMorgan exec), who has made a series of senior hires, including Achintya Mangla as head of investment bank financing.
Citi’s investment banking fees rose sharply in Q1, led by an 84% jump in M&A advisory revenues. The firm advised on major 2025 transactions including:
🛰️ Charter Communications’ $21.9B merger with Cox
✈️ Boeing’s $10.5B sale of Jeppesen to Thoma Bravo
“M&A continues to be super active — there’s a lot of dialogue, a lot of engagement,”
said Raghavan recently. “The debt market will follow where M&A leads.”
Bottom Line:
As M&A activity shows signs of sustained recovery, Citigroup is clearly doubling down on advisory talent to capture share in a competitive landscape. With heavyweight hires like Rajkovic, it’s positioning for leadership in the next wave of complex, cross-border, and tech-driven transactions.
